public master’s-granting universities in the West, according to the 2008 U.S. News & World Report college rankings.

Your gift can be
designated to the college or academic program of your choice. These
funds are used by the department to fund scholarships, promote faculty
development and support innovation in the classroom. Deans,
department chairs and faculty use these gifts to further academic
priorities and maintain the strong reputation of their programs.
The Campus Enrichment
Fund
Gifts to the Campus Enrichment Fund are unrestricted
gifts made by donors who wish to support campus-wide initiatives
rather than specific projects. These “flexible” dollars allow
President Karen Morse and Provost Andrew Bodman to fund immediate
needs and encourages innovation and creativity among faculty, staff
and students.
Your gift to the Campus Enrichment Fund will help provide
scholarships for National Merit Finalists and other merit and need
based awards; fund teaching awards that annually recognize Western’s
top educators; make available grants for faculty and students to
attend conferences to present their research and interact with
colleagues from across the country; fund community outreach events
such as the Distinguished Lecture Series which each year brings three
noted speakers to campus; and provide resources for curriculum and
programmatic innovations across campus.
By contributing to the Campus Enrichment Fund, you are supporting
the entire Western Washington University campus community. You are
placing your confidence in both faculty and students and helping them
achieve their professional and academic goals. These unrestricted
dollars are vitally important and truly help keep Western in the
forefront of undergraduate education.

Scholarships
Recognizing the need for increased support
for students campus wide, the WWU Foundation Board of Directors
made scholarship support a top priority in an 18-month campaign.
With an original goal of raising an additional $5 million for
scholarships by December, 2004, more than $8 million was received.
Even with the success of this initiative scholarship support
will continue to be a top priority for all academic areas.

students and faculty deserve access to the most current information
and resources available. In today's world, library resources not only
include traditional books, periodicals and journals, but also run the

The Western Gallery and the Outdoor
Sculpture Collection
Home to one of the largest collections of outdoor sculpture on the
west coast and recognized as one of the 10 best on-campus public art collections in the nation, Western is home to one of the nation's finest
collections of outdoor minimalist art. Building on one of Western's
greatest strengths, the Foundation seeks funding to enhance the
collection by commissioning a new sculpture and to fund the
publication of a book showcasing the sculpture collection.
The Western Gallery is in many ways an undiscovered jewel. With a
mission to offer students, faculty and the surrounding community
exceptional exhibits of contemporary art, the gallery is also a
teaching museum dedicated to providing educational programming that
supports its exhibits.

Viking
Athletics
As a member of the NCAA Division II,
Western competes with universities that provide substantial
scholarships as well as healthy operating funds for sports
programs. Western expects its athletes to have the same high
academic credentials required of all its students. Students who
demonstrate a combination of academic and athletic ability are in
demand nationwide and often attend those universities offering
generous scholarship packages. Your support of Viking
Athletics can ensure continued success both in the classroom and
on the fields and courts.
